It really is a charming spot

If you’re looking for a weekend away with a difference, this is it.

Sprat and Winkle is a beautiful Victorian train conversion and you’ll find it at the original Grade II listed Horsebridge railway station in Hampshire, which closed in 1964.

Named after the Sprat and Winkle line which once ran through the station, the vintage green carriage is a holiday home and sleeps four people.

Located near Winchester and in easy reach of the beautiful South Downs National Park, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a few days away without having to travel too far from Surrey.

The property is ideal for walkers with wonderful footpaths in every direction leading guests to the heart of Hampshire’s beautiful countryside.

The famous Test Way footpath goes right past and The John Of Gaunts Inn is 200m down the driveway.

It is also just a stone’s throw from the River Test, great for exploring with the kids.

Stockbridge, Winchester and the New Forest are all close-by.

Guests can sit back and relax on Platform One with a barbecue, while the garden offers a children’s play area, patio furniture and a suitable space for dogs to run around.

The London and South Western iron clad corridor coach couples modern design with touches of historic charm.

It features an open-plan living space with a sofa, two armchairs and a TV, plus a fully equipped kitchen with an electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Both bedrooms have new furnishings with en-suite shower rooms.

As a nod to its past, the carriage features light fittings from the Orient Express, old Southern Railway advertisement posters from the 1920s and vintage luggage racks.

It is pet-friendly and offers free parking for up to two cars and table tennis is available on request.
