Motorists are being warned of traffic delays through parts of Staffordshire as hundreds of motorcyclists are due to take to the streets.
Staffs Police Road Policing Unit said there could be delays as thousands of motorcyclists ride through Staffordshire to the National Arboretum to pay their respects to fallen servicemen in the annual Ride to the Wall event
They said: “Today will see increased traffic around Tamworth & Lichfield for the Ride To The Wall. The main route from Drayton Manor to NMA will have short delays between 12.15pm and 1pm.”
Ride To The Wall is a unique motorcycling fundraising ride with a dedicated service of remembrance that provides an opportunity for all motorcyclists to ride as an organised group to the National Memorial Arboretum. The Armed Forces Memorial (The Wall) is a 43 metre diameter stone structure with two curved walls and two straight walls constructed of 200,000 bricks faced with Portland stone panels.
The panels contain the names of those honoured by the Memorial providing recognition and thanks for those who have given their lives in the service of the country since the end of the Second World War.
