The Vicar of Dibley is set to return this week for a special appearance, as part of the BBC‘s Big Night In telethon.
Dawn French teased the news on her Twitter page, tweeting a close-up photograph of herself in the iconic collar and cross necklace combo.
“Hmmm. Somethin interestin this way comes….,” she tweeted, adding “Thurs @BBCOne 7-10pm #BigNightIn.”
In a further statement, the comedian said: “I’m back in the dog collar, back in the vicarage, and back on your telly as part of The Big Night In. Be there, or go to hell. Literally. I have some sway.”
Since the show aired its last proper episode on New Year’s Day 2007, there have been a handful of sketches for charity, the latest being in 2015.
Since that sketch aired, actors Emma Chambers (Alice) and John Bluthal (Frank) both passed away in 2018, while Roger Lloyd-Pack (Owen) died in 2014.
The Vicar of Dibley is not the only show to return for the Big Night In telethon, as Little Britain will be making a comeback too.
The Big Night In will air live on Thursday, April 23 from 7pm-10pm on BBC One and on iPlayer.
