Rare deer spotted roaming the streets of Gosport

There was an unexpected visitor in a residential area of Gosport early this morning.

The rare sight of a deer was spotted roaming around Peel Common.

Quieter roads and fewer people on the streets amid the coronavirus lockdown could be behind the deer’s bold venture.

The picture was posted on Facebook page Gosport Aware and sparked a flurry of excited comments.

Jennifer Owen wrote: ‘Lovely sight. Used to often see them very early morning when driving to work some years ago.’

Lindsey Parker said: ‘Lived in Peel Common for years, never saw anything like this, beautiful.’

Emily Brown added: ‘Used to see them all the time back home, on my drive into work. Not seen one here before though. It’s amazing what ventures out when there’s less people and traffic about.’
