Last time out people went wild trying to find the £1,000 golden dough balls as part of a Willy-Wonka-style hunt, and this year the offer’s even better
In the next few days Pizza Express is going to hide dozens of “golden dough balls” in locations across Britain then distribute clues on how to find them.
It’s all part of the chain’s 55th birthday celebrations – with Brits invited to take part in a treasure hunt to find one of the 55 prizes.
Anyone lucky enough to find a golden dough ball can win £1,000 of PizzaExpress gift cards to share with family and friends, or try and get through themselves.
All 55 balls will be hidden across the UK by Sunday February 9th – which also happens to be National Pizza Day – with people having until Friday March 27 to find them.
Clues will be released on the @PizzaExpress Instagram account, or can be found using the hashtag #PE55.
If past form is anything to go by, you’ll need to be quick though – with last year’s version of the game seeing only the first person to track down each ball able to claim the £1,000.
Pizza Express managing director Zoe Bowley said: “Following last year’s celebration of our iconic dough ball, we’re incredibly excited to be bringing back the hunt for our 55th anniversary.
“With the search for 55 balls culminating on our very own birthday, we hope everyone joins in with what is set to be a truly epic celebration.”
But it’s not just people heading out hunting that have the chance to nab enough Pizza Express to feed a medium-sized small village either.
The chain also said some will be hidden in PizzaExpress deliveries carried out by Deliveroo, while others will be secreted away in the pizzeria’s ‘Cook At Home’ range available in supermarkets.
