New Restaurant For Reading Town Centre

A new restaurant is set to open in Reading town centre.

Signs have appeared on an empty restaurant in West Street suggesting a new “tandoori grill and restaurant” is set to officially open on Thursday, October 17.

Gurkha Home will takeover the former home of Beijing Noodle House at 13 West Street, which was shut down earlier this year.

The restaurant, which Reading Borough Council has confirmed is under new ownership, appears to have been completely transformed, and now has been painted red on the outside.

The former Chinese restaurant was shut down in July by Reading Magistrates’ Court after health and safety inspectors from Reading Borough Council found a cockroach infestation during a routine unannounced visit.

At the time, the court said the restaurant would have to apply to the council to reopen and officers must then give it the all clear before it can start serving customers again.

On Tuesday, October 15 a Reading Borough Council spokesman confirmed health inspectors have since returned to the restaurant and provided it with a certificate of satisfaction, meaning the restaurant has been permitted to open.
