Man counts up contents of Quality Street tin and leaves people absolutely fuming

What you really get inside your tin of Quality Street - don't look if you like the purple ones!

A tweet showing the ratio of each variety of chocolate inside a tin of Quality Street has gone viral on Twitter racking up more than 30,000 likes as people were left fiercely divided by the results.

December is within touching distance and that means it’s almost time for our diets to become 80 per cent chocolate with zero per cent guilt.

Advent calendars begin, Colin the Caterpillar puts on his Santa hat in preparation for the big day, and tins of chocolate provide round-the-clock snacking without the disappointment of finding your mum’s sewing kit inside.

But those who opt for a tub of Quality Street might be left a bit frustrated after one chocolate fan counted the number of each variety inside, labelling the findings “another blow for 2020”.

Stephen Hull, head of digital at ITV News, found the tin to contained a total of 85 chocolates, but just four of the undoubtedly most delicious purple ones.

There were also only four of both green triangle and caramel cup, with orange creme and toffee penny on the other end of the scale with a staggering 11 each.

Stephen’s tweet has racked up more than 30,000 likes and sparked a fierce debate, as he wrote: “Bit of spare time on my hands today so I audited the unopened Quality Street tin.

“Just 4 purples (4.7%) and yet a massive 11 (12.9%) orange ones. Another blow for 2020. Who do I complain to? #inequalitystreet.”

Others wanted to check the working for themselves, with @Tatedavies adding his own calculations to the report. He found the purple one and green triangle to again be in the lowest quantity, and chocolate strawberry to be the most plentiful.https://get-latest.convrse.media/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mirror.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fweird-news%2Fman-counts-up-contents-quality-23092701&cre=bottom&cip=14&view=web

He replied: “Just done the same, to check consumer variance. I have 7.5% purple and 11.9%. Interesting, but seeing as I don’t like nuts, I’m happy with the ratios myself.”

The chocolate audit left some raging, as one replied to say: “That is all kinds of wrong. Orange creams shouldn’t even be in the mix let alone staging a bloody takeover.”
