Jeremy Clarkson couldn’t help making a slight dig at Charles Ingram as he promoted his very own pub quiz.
The Grand Tour host shared a video on Twitter, inviting us all to take part in his quiz with DriveTribe. And the 60-year-old didn’t resist teasing the infamous Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant – following the release of ITV series Quiz.
‘Greetings. At 7 o’clock this evening on the DriveTribe YouTube channel I’m going to be hosting a pub quiz,’ he told fans.
‘It’s rubbish and there’s no prize money but it’s very easy to cheat. You don’t even have to cough. ‘So, see you then. What else are you going to be doing? Watching Channel 4 News?’
Jeremy’s message comes after Quiz aired on ITV, with the series recalling the ‘coughing’ scandal – where Charles Ingram (Matthew Macfadyen) and his wife Diana (Sian Clifford) were accused of cheating their way to the jackpot on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Accusations were levied that someone had been planted in the audience to help the Major during his time on the show in 2001, coughing on the correct answer – something they were later found guilty for.
Despite teasing Charles, Richard Hammond’s pal revealed he was a huge fan of the three-part drama.
Before the show aired on Monday, he told his loyal Twitter followers: ’Quiz is about to start on @ITV. It’s pretty good.’ High praise indeed.
Jeremy definitely wasn’t wrong, with audiences around the UK crying out for more episodes – or a showing of the original episode at the very least. Unfortunately for us all, ITV has confirmed they will not be airing Charles’ stint in the ITV chair any time soon. And we are devastated.
A spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘There are no plans to air this episode on ITV.
‘There are rumours floating around but this isn’t the case nor in the schedule.’
The only way to watch the episode is through clips on YouTube – where you can find us for the foreseeable future.
