Is Lewis Capaldi related to Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi?

Singer Lewis Capaldi, 22, and Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi, 61, share a surname and a Scottish accent. One famous Scotsman with a surname of ‘Capaldi’ might seem unusual, but two? Is it more than a coincidence?

Are Lewis Capaldi and Peter Capaldi related?

The two stars are related. Lewis Capaldi is the second cousin once removed to actor Peter Capaldi – Peter is Lewis’ dad’s second cousin.

Peter is famous for playing the twelfth incarnation of Doctor Who, as well as starring in BBC’s The Thick of It and the Paddington films.

In fact, the actor even starred in the video for Lewis’ Someone You Loved.

Speaking at the time, Lewis said: ‘Despite being related, prior to the video I’d only met Peter once when he came along to a show of mine in London last year. It was such a massive honour getting to work with him and director Phil Beastall over the two days we shot.

‘He’s absolutely incredible in the video and I’m so proud of how it turned out.’
