Today marks World Mental Health Day, with high profile figures and brands across the world calling on people to look out for and check up on each other.
Leading the way as always is the Fab Four, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex all heavily involved in the Heads Together charity – just look at their viral video campaign.
Today however it was Prince Harry who got everyone talking as he teamed up with singer Ed Sheeran to post a light-hearted video to raise awareness.
Disclaimer – it’s hilarious.
The video sees Ed arriving at Princess Eugenie’s Kensington Palace home to be greeted by Harry before the two sit down to discuss writing a song to raise awareness.
It becomes clear however that while Prince Harry is talking about world mental health day, Ed thinks they are starting a movement for red-haired people, naming his project ‘Gingers Unite’.
‘This is a topic that for me I don’t think is talked about enough and people are really suffering’, Harry told Ed in Princess Eugenie’s kitchen. ‘I’ve been meaning to write a song about this’, Ed responded. ‘To get it out to more people. People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us – the jokes, the snide comments. I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said “We are not going to take this anymore – we are ginger and we’re going to fight.”’
‘Ok’, Harry replied awkwardly . ‘This might be a miscommunication but this is about world mental health day.’
‘Yeah I knew that,’ Ed insists while deleting his presentation, reading ‘HRH Prince Harry and King of ging Ed Sheeran get together to change the perception of people with Moroccan sunset hair’.
Captioning the video, the Sussex Royal Instagram page wrote, ‘It’s world mental day! Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you.’
This is extremely important.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to hit replay!
