Joe Sugg has admitted Dianne Buswell is in bits after last night’s controversial Strictly Come Dancing elimination, which saw her booted out of the ballroom with partner Dev Griffin.
The result has sparked outrage with viewers, who have threatened to boycott the entire series with the likes of David James and Alex Scott – both hotly tipped to leave the contest – still fighting on to dance another day.
Joe, who was partnered with Dianne last year before they confirmed their relationship immediately after the Strictly finale 2018, revealed during today’s Lorraine his girlfriend hasn’t taken the news well.
Strictly’s Dianne Buswell posts emotional message to Dev Griffin after shock exit Furious Strictly viewers claim phones were jammed for Dev and Dianne ‘What did happen?’ he asked the host, clearly as confused as we are.
‘Like the rest of the country it’s a massive shock. I’m Absolutely gutted for Dev and Dianne.’ When Lorraine asked if Dianne was ok, Joe bluntly confessed: ‘No, not really. I really don’t think it should have been them to go. He was brilliant, he was an amazing student. It doesn’t seem… it’s weird.’
Following last night’s pre-recorded show, Dianne shared an emotional tribute to the Radio One DJ.
‘My heart is broken,’ she began. ‘This guy had so much to give and worked sooooo hard I’m so sorry your journey was cut short you have done me so proud, every week you would say you just didn’t want to let me down!
‘Dev you sooo didn’t you were a dream to teach and you were turning into such a great dancer thank you so much for everything.’
Dev also posted a similar message after the announcement, and declared: ‘It’s been incredible! I wish I could have stayed a bit longer but sadly my strictly ride has come to an end.
‘Thank you to all of the production team, wardrobe, make up, crew, pro dancers and celebs for looking after me and being like family to me these past few weeks.
‘@diannebuswell you are the best! Thank you for being such an amazing partner and always pushing me to be the best version of myself.
‘I’ve loved every minute of this! Good luck to the other celebs. I’m off to put my feet up for a bit.’
Strictly fans have slammed the result as a ’fix’ with many saying they couldn’t get through to vote. Dev and Dianne will appear on tonight’s It Takes Two for their first interview as former Strictly stars.
