DELIGHT IN DARLINGTON AS FOUR RESIDENTS NET £30K EACH
It was an exciting weekend for four lucky Darlington neighbours, as they each won £30,000 thanks to playing People’s Postcode Lottery.
The Foxglove Close winners landed the prize when DL1 3FB was announced as a winner with the lottery on Sunday 6th October.
Daniel Ashenden (34) was one of the lucky residents who scooped £30,000. Funnily enough, Daniel recently pranked his wife, Laura, telling her that they had won £30,000. When he received a call a few weeks later from the Postcode Lottery team telling him they were going to pay them a visit with a cheque, Laura didn’t believe him.
Daniel said: “I pranked Laura a few weeks ago and told her we had won £30k – she fell out with me and didn’t speak to me all day. When I rang her this time around and said we’d actually won she didn’t believe me!”
Daniel and Laura got married two years ago and have been saving up to buy a new house. Laura said: “We’ve been saving for a deposit for our forever home so this win has made our lives – it would have taken us years to save this amount. I feel like I’m having an out of body experience!”
Daniel added: “I’d love to use the money to go back to Canada. We spent our honeymoon there and as soon as we came home we wanted to go back again.”
Another £30,000 winner, Helen Stephenson (39), had just arrived home from work when she received a knock at the door from People’s Postcode Lottery.
Helen said: “I’d only been home five minutes and then got a knock on the door, and there was £30,000 waiting outside for me.”
When asked what she’d spend the money on, Helen said: “Holidays, clothes and more holidays.
“I’d love to go to Australia again and now it’s paid for. I love my holidays!”
Two other neighbours also won a £30,000 cash prize each. They were not available to receive their cheque in person, but the money will be paid directly into their bank account.
Darlington local, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt, presented the winners with their cheques. She said: “I was delighted to visit some winners in my hometown this weekend. A huge congratulations to them all – it sounds like they’re going to have a great time spending their prize money.”
A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £486 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Culture Trust, which supports charities and good causes that are inspiring learning, understanding and appreciation of science, music, arts and culture to people of all ages.
