Christmas Markets to visit in Berkshire

Pick up some wonderful gifts at these Christmas markets and fairs in Berkshire.

The Christmas season is almost upon us.

If you’re looking for a unique gift or simply want to soak up the festive atmosphere, there are a host of Christmas markets and fair happening across Berkshire.

For many of us, it means buying gifts for your loved ones, decorating your tree and making sure you’ve got a little something to leave Father Christmas and his reindeer.

Traders will be selling everything from handmade Christmas decorations to toys plus tasty festive food.

Many of the markets have fully licensed bars and catering so you can enjoy the festive cheer.

Berkshire Christmas Fair

When: 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3

Where: Beale Park, Shooters Hill, Lower Basildon.

Browse for gifts and crafts and tuck into festive treats at this Christmas fair.

Even well-behaved dogs are invited, as long as they are on a lead and not taken to any of the food marquees.

Tickets cost £5 at the gate, with accompanying children aged 18 and under going free.

Maidenhead Night Market and Artisan Fair

When: Night market 5pm to 10pm on Friday, November 15; Artisan Fair 11am to 5pm on Saturday, November 16

Where: Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Altwood Road, Maidenhead

Start your Christmas shopping early with Norden Farm Centre for the Arts’ annual night market and Artisan fair.

Shoppers are invited to the centre’s 18th century Long Barn, which will be packed with handmade crafts and gifts, along with jewellery, ceramics, glassware, decorations, candles, textile gifts and more.

A Christmas market would not be complete without food, so there will be plenty of festive treats to enjoy.

The Café Bar will be serving mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas coffee to visitors.

And what’s more? Entry is free.

Windsor Christmas Fair

When: Saturday, November 16 to Sunday, November 17

Where: Windsor Racecourse, Maidenhead Road, Windsor, Berkshire

Head to the Royal Windsor Racecourse to buy some fantastic arts, crafts and gifts and enjoy wonderful food.

Tickets on the gate cost £5 and accompanied children under 18s go free.

Maidenhead Christmas market and lights switch on

When: From 4.30pm on Saturday, November 23

Where: Maidenhead town centre

Maidenhead’s annual Christmas lights switch on will be accompanied by a Christmas Market, entertainment, fun fair and even a fireworks display.

Queen Street, High Street and St Ives Road will be closed to drivers on the day to make way for the market.

There will be performances outside the town hall which will start at 4.30pm.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm, followed by a massive fireworks display from the roof of the town hall.

Newbury Artisan Christmas Market

When: 10am to 4pm on Sunday, November 24 and Sunday, December 8

Where: Newbury town centre

Newbury’s big artisan Christmas Market has proven so popular in previous years that they have added a second date for the market on Sunday, December 8.

Traders will be selling a range of goods including designer bags, gifts and homeware.

Children can enjoy a host of activities and entertainment, and when everyone gets hungry, head to ‘feast street’ for a mouth-watering selection of locally produced dishes.

There will also be food to take home, including ciders and sauces, breads and pastries and sweets.

Wokingham Winter Carnival

When: Sunday, November 24

Where: Wokingham town centre

This year is the 50th anniversary of the moon walk, so the theme for this year’s Winter Carnival will be A Space Adventure.

People from the town and the surrounding area are invited to this free event, which organisers hope will be a ‘cosmic’ day out.

There will be dancing, street entertainers, music, a fun fair, Christmas tree lights and carols, as well as Santa in his grotto at the library.

There will be lots of stalls will be selling wonderful gifts Christmas and food and drink.

The Christmas Fair at Ascot

When: Thursday, November 28 to Sunday, December 1 open from 9.30am to 5pm on weekdays, 9.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday, 9.3aam to 4pm on Sunday.

Where: The Pavilion, Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot

Visitors will be able to pick up the perfect present for their loved ones, as well as festive food, fine furniture, handy homeware, art, toys and more.

As many as 150 traders will be at the market.

Etsy Christmas Market Reading

When: 11am to 6pm on Saturday, November 30

Where: St Laurence’s Church, Friar Street, Reading, Berkshire

Reading’s talented craftspeople will be selling their wares.

You’ll be able to buy direct from crafters who will be selling a range of unique Christmas gifts.

Traders confirmed for the market so far include Gem’s Concrete Gems, No Moths Allowed knitting, and Jess Adams Design with her resin and acrylic jewellery.

Dinton Pastures Christmas Fair

When: 10am to 4pm on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8

Where: Dinton Pastures Country Park, Davis Street, Hurst

Visitors to Wokingham’s favourite country park will be treated to a Christmas Fair this winter.

Shoppers are invited to browse a range of stalls selling Christmas gifts in the large marquee.

There will also be a selection of festive food and drink available from bespoke vendors.

Children are in for a wild ride on the carousel, and they can then meet Santa in his grotto.
