I learned something new on YouTube today. This is not your typical way of handling invading fire ants, but it’s still a possible solution to controlling the pest.
The YouTube video starts out that the vlogger is out of ant poison, so he decided to improvise with baking soda and vinegar. But just how useful is this concoction? The video doesn’t really explain how the man came up with this as a method to battle his infestation.
Whether it works or not, it’s definitely a novel approach. So for originality, he gets 4 out of 5 stars.
The fire ants have apparently invaded the YouTuber’s backyard. If you don’t know what fire ants are known for, here’s an image of someone who got attacked by them.
These ants are vicious that’s for sure.
The man starts by showing the two ingredients to battle the ants are just white distilled vinegar and baking soda.
Then he goes to stir up the ant nest. The ants come cascading out as if they are ready for a battle. Of course, he purposely does this to make the ants angry.
He then spreads a blanket of banking soda over the swarming ants.
The YouTube video shows him repeatedly pours the vinegar and baking soda over the same spot to see how many ants he could kill.
Just how successful was the Youtuber? He claims that the concoction killed about 60% of the fire ants.
So for the video teaching me something new I could use, I give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
