“Canterbury Cannibal” has moved to Blair, NE.
In 2014, 62-year-old Dale Bolinger was convicted for attempting to rape, eat and behead a 14-year-old girl he met online. He was sentenced to 9 years in jail in the United Kingdom, where he had traveled to meet the girl. But he was let out of prison early and moved to a home in Blair, NE, in a neighborhood filled with children.
According to the Washington County Attorney, Scott Vander Schaaf, the citizens can rest assured that he is not a threat to the community at this time.
He has registered as a sex offender, as is required, the Sheriff said he has stepped up patrol of the neighborhood and has performed a compliance check on Bolinger.
And that’s supposed to make the citizens feel better? Nebraska must have different guidelines for sex offenders than does Missouri. In Missouri, a sex offender cannot live with several blocks of children.
Neighbors are already afraid. If he did it online before, what will stop him from doing it again? Why was he released from prison in in the UK early?
The county attorney also stated that the law cannot stop someone from moving into their state, town or neighborhood.
He is a sick, depraved individual. If he has advanced as far as he did to try to do what he did, does anyone really think he hasn’t done it before and won’t do it again? Sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated. Especially those who have moved on to cannibalism. There is proof he spent hours on websites involving cannibalism, child pornography and attempting to lure young girls to meet him.
So the Sheriff says they’re patrolling the neighborhood more. So what does that mean? What kind of help is that? It’s supposed to make the neighbors feel better?
He could already be doing what he was doing. How do you stop someone from trolling the internet? He could use different computers, tablets, phones with alias names. How are police supposed to monitor that?
I would not want to live anywhere near any such man. Nor would I want any family member to do so. I don’t know what the answer is, but there has to be some way to stop this man before he succeeds. Because I don’t believe for a moment, he has finished or ever will change unless he’s behind bars forever, where he belongs!
