Exciting news from South Korean scientists about the discovery on how to end baldness.
Thanks to researchers led by Choi Kang-yeol of Yonsei University in Seoul baldness and thinning hair may soon be a thing of the past. The South Korean team created a new biochemical agent they say not only prevents hair loss but actually promotes the growth of new hair.
The new miracle compound is called PTD-DMB.
The research team found that two protein found on the scalp that binds together causing the loss of hair and prevents new growth. The new biochemical agent, PTD-DMB, effectively blocks those two proteins from binding together. Hence preventing hair loss and allowing for new follicles to develop.
When Choi and the team applied PTD-DMB to the bare skin of mice for 28 days, researchers saw it led to the growth of new hair follicles. When adding a substance (used in the treatment of epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and migraines) was applied with PTD-DMB, new hair growth among the mice was even faster.
The team is currently testing PTD-DMB for any toxicity. This news is exciting for me because it may be a way I can grow thicker hair. I’ve never had thick hair, so I am very hopeful.
