Meghan Markle: Does She Have What It Takes To Succeed As A Royal?
It has been announced the Meghan Markle is now engaged to Prince Harry. But does the actress have the qualities it takes to be a royal princess?
The announcement came with a press conference, and for many, it was exciting news.
But who is Meghan Markle and does she have the qualities to be satisfied and happy in her new future role as a royal princess? The wedding isn’t for a few months yet (spring 2018), but that doesn’t mean we can’t figure out if she’d be a good fit or not.
We should look at three areas of her life to look for indicators of an active and influential future princess. The areas to think about will be her career, her emotional strength, and her philanthropy.
Meghan, the actress
First, she’s an American actress who may be a good match since Prince Harry has a bit of a reputation for being a bad boy in the past. She’s played some characters that came across strong but none that were too gauche.
Markle, 36, whose breakthrough role as an actor came in 2011 when she first appeared as ambitious paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit US television series “Suits,” now in its seventh season.
“Sadly, it didn’t matter: I wasn’t black enough for the black roles and I wasn’t white enough for the white ones, leaving me somewhere in the middle as the ethnic chameleon who couldn’t book a job.” Meghan Markle
‘Proud to be a feminist.’
Markle has strong opinions on what it takes to be a woman and how they should be treated.
“I’m proud to be a woman and a feminist,” said Markle in a speech at a United Nations conference on International Women’s Day 2015.
What about philanthropy?
In 2016, she became a global ambassador for World Vision and traveled to Rwanda to see the impact of the charity’s clean water initiatives.
Markle wrote an article in Elle magazine about growing up without much made her want to help others.
“My parents came from little so they made a choice to give a lot,” she wrote. “Buying turkeys for homeless shelters at Thanksgiving, delivering meals to people in hospices, giving spare change to those asking for it. It’s what I grew up seeing, so it’s what I grew up being: a young adult with a social consciousness to do what I could and speak up when I knew something was wrong.”
But what about love?
“We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” she told Vanity Fair in September.
“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.”
So on the surface, it looks like Meghan Markle will make a great addition to the royal family, but only time will tell for sure.
