Was it a tough question asked by Jedediah Bila that caused her sudden departure from The View? Audiences were shocked by the announcement Monday. An unnamed source says the immediate separation may have something to do with Hillary Clinton. Clinton was on the show last Wednesday to promote her new book “What Happened.”
Bila told The View audience on Monday that this would be her last appearance on the syndicated talk show due to her upcoming book and she also wanted to pursue other opportunities.
She was cordial in her on-air statements thanking the entire team.
The only reasons Bila said Monday was her reasons to make this her last appearance on The View was due to her upcoming book and to pursue other opportunies.
But here is where Bila may have exposed a reason for her leaving.
“I want to thank the viewers, even the ones that write me the hate tweets,” she continued. “This is what I’m here for, I’m there to shake things up — in life, in television.”
We think maybe following the interview with the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton some hate emails got sent in that started the departure ball rolling.
Bila is a libertarian independent whose viewpoints often caused her to spar with her liberal co-hosts for the past year or so.
So What question did Bila ask Clinton that folks say is the ‘real’ reason she is leaving The View suddenly?
“To be fair, it hasn’t just been Republicans who have taken issue with the writing of this book. Some Democrats have come out as well,” Bila said to Clinton. “Former campaign surrogates of yours, former fundraisers and said, ‘This book puts us in the past and we wanna move forward, we wanna figure out where to take this party, how to succeed in the future. And this places us in the past.’ How do you respond to Democrats also coming out in criticism of you writing this?”
An internal note was obtained by Page Six, that states that the staff of the show really appreciated Bila’s hard work and tough questions.
“She’s been a spirited voice at the table over the past year, asking smart questions and challenging us all to think. We want to thank Jed very much for all of her contributions and wish her great success with the next step in her career. She will always be part of ‘The View’ family, and we’ll welcome her back to talk about her new projects. Please join us in thanking Jed for her hard work, her dedication and her voice at the table.”
However, this doesn’t seem to be the case since the Clinton “What Happened” interview. According to the source, a lot of the staff was upset at how the questioning went.
“There was a lot of staff who were upset about how that interview was handled,” says the source, speculating that “The View” wants the former secretary of state to appear on the show multiple times. “They had a lot to say to Jedediah about calming things down.”
On Twitter Hillary supporters still, want her as their president.
Meanwhile, Ms. Bila was scheduled to work for the entire season, but she decided to leave on her own. She is said to be uncomfortable with how things are handled behind the scenes of The View. Bila is the only right-leaning voice on the show.
Meghan McCain is said to be in talks to possibly join The View.
