When there’s so much damage it’s natural for people to want to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
But the Better Business Bureau is warning of possible scams especially online of criminals trying to make a quick buck. The agency warns the public to make sure it’s a reputable organization and the money is destined for where it’s supposed to go.
Because of the magnitude of Harvey the BBB believes many may fall victims to scams.
“Everyone wants to help in some way if they can because of the level of magnitude of this disaster, however, we need to make sure as we donate our money that we donate it wisely and it can be used properly,” said Jim Winsett with the Better Business Bureau.
There has already been reports of fraudulant activities on GoFundMe page according to Winsett.
